Illustrated, Screen-Printed Posters Celebrating the OBX.

About the Print

In celebration of the American summer and the country’s spirit of adventure, exploration and preservation, Bearings commissioned this print honoring the great Outer Banks – one of the nation’s most distinct and scenic blends of sea and sand. The custom prints captured the essence of these North Carolina barrier islands: the tallest dunes and some of the best surfing on the East Coast. Known as OBX, the print highlights the islands and communities along this 200-mile stretch: from Kitty Hawk and Nags Head, to Hatteras and Ocracoke, and everything in between.

About the Design

The illustration is a 3/0 screen print. A half-toning effect was used to create detail shading effects despite the more limited use of color. The prints was designed as a tri-color series – Carolina Blue, Golden Sand and Sunset Orange.
